On Dec. 1, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos told Charlie Rose on “60 Minutes” that the company is in the R&D stage of developing a drone delivery system called Amazon PrimeAir. The drones would theoretically deliver packages of up to 5 pounds directly to people’s doorsteps in as little as 30 minutes after purchase.
Photographer awarded $1.2M from companies over use of Twitter pictures
A federal jury on Nov. 22 awarded freelance photojournalist Daniel Morel $1.2 million for the unauthorized use of his pictures—the maximum award under the Copyright Act. Getty Images and Agence France-Presse (AFP) were found to have willfully violated the law. Several other organizations previously settled with Morel.
By cross-referencing phone and email metadata with other information such as “bank codes, insurance information, Facebook profiles, passenger manifests, voter registration rolls and GPS location information, property records and unspecified tax data” the NSA is able to plot the social connections of its targets, including some American citizens, according to revelations in the New York Times.
