The Other Side

mikehudack:

This does happen. Several of the European low countries feature much less personal ambition because of their overly progressive tax structures. Not that I say “overly” progressive. I’m not suggesting that we implement a regressive tax, and I’m not saying that a progressive tax is a bad idea. A progressive tax is a good idea. But picking a magic number (say, $600,000) and eliminating the tax burden below that number and increasing it above that number is a bad idea

Ok, this is my fault for not being more clear. Obama isn’t completely taking the tax burden away from the middle class, he is however NOT raising taxes for anyone making under $600k.

Taken a step further, much of the reason we are in this mess is because of the irrational spending of the current administration. Most of the folks who signed off on this unneccessary war and the Bush policies are privledged enough not to have to send their sons and daughters off to be killed for it, so they should have to bare the burden somehow.

And yes, I realize those ‘poorer’ folks signed up voluntarily, but you can be damn sure financial incentives played into that, and yes I realize they could have found themselves a different line of work, but not everything in this world is black and white.

Better?
