Hi Soup! I am a long time fan. I was wondering if you had any tips on promoting your blog in the hopes that it may lead to an employment opportunity. I am in the media world but on the PR side, and write an industry blog that I hope one day might lead to an opportunity to work in the editorial, brand content side of things. Is there a timeline you suggest? A method, or is it more about persistence and luck? Any bits of knowledge will be appreciated!

Write about what you care about and do it often, build up a portfolio of work, eventually if your work is good, someone will notice and if they don’t, start pitching it to places and people you respect. That’s really all there is to it, I don’t think there’s a magic formula.

Networking helps to get people to be aware of you and therefore your work but if your work is good generally it will get around on its own.

I actually do think it is about persistence and a little bit of luck, but you make your own luck by the amount of time and effort you put into it.
