quoteUnscrupulous diners will be tempted to sample every flavor, from the citrus bite of Mountain Dew to the oddly over-syruped Diet Sprite. One may need a sweet soda to counter the lightly marinated bite of the grilled-chicken sandwich — the same teriyaki-leaning glaze that everybody seems to be doing this year.
Tuneage Muxtape Contest: So Indie 2.0 It Hurts

kylebunch:

tuneage:

Tuneage reached a milestone recently. As you’re probably aware, Tuneage is powered by Tumblr (which we love) and in the middle of last week, we reached 1,000 followers…to celebrate, we’re holding a small giveaway and giving away lots of stuff. Just because we’re nice like that, and because we’d be nowhere without you guys.

First of all, here’s what we have to give away.

We’d like to extend a huge thanks to everyone that has donated items for us to give away. We’re extremely grateful.

Now, what do you have to do to have a chance to win all this stuff? It couldn’t be easier. In fact, thousands of people have already done it: we want you to make a Muxtape. But we want a Muxtape with a theme: the perfect Summer mix. Interpret the theme however you like, and make a Muxtape out of it.

Easy enough, right? We’re allotting two weeks for you to come up with your perfect Summer mix, then we’ll begin the judging and hand out the prizes after that.

here is my PERFECT SUMMER MIX.

sarazucker: ignoring that the men in this picture are/were members of one of the most famous bands (the beatles) in the world, the colors and details are astounding. by examining the expressions on all of their faces, it really exemplifies that every photo tells a story. anyway, a velvet blazer? a ruffled, floral blouse? sick. paul’s blazer, shirt, scarf combo would fit right now in if the suit wasn’t so big. ringo looks like a fucking accountant. btw, ringo has a really interesting hbo special on now with dave stewart worth checking out.

Question

ladysadie:

Do you think love is a fun distraction to daily living, until it becomes our daily living and then its no so fun anymore?

In relation to relationships that become undeniably comfortable after a significant amount of time that we’re too afraid to face the reality of the “not so fun”.

it can be if the person you were with is insufferably boring, unfunny, and basically incapable of creative ways to keep things from becoming comfortable.

quoteultimately the downside of fashion is the fetishizing of the ever-shifting object. but the upside is that it still can be an individual play of decisions.

from i love fashion, debating the opposing view of i hate fashion, from vice magazine’s fashion issue (on stands).

dressing has always been about personal choices, and while many people have different opinions about the issue, we can all agree that style is a matter of individuality.

(via sarazucker)

this is a brilliant debate for someone like myself who is a bit skeptical about fashion. i’ll admit i watched the devil wears prada this weekend (no homo, hathaway is a fucking fox) and it gave me a bit more of an appreciation for what goes into building a design out of fabrics.

The Cult Of Blog Personalities
Andy Warhol’s famous quote that everyone will be famous for 15 seconds was retrofitted in 1991 by Scottish artist Momus, who said “in the future, everyone will be famous for 15 people.”

What was true in 1991 seems even more so in 2008, where every blog or micro-blog in the form of tumblrs spawn ‘followers’ who beget ‘followers’ and thus create some strange form of micro-personality.

Most tumblrs are innoculous, simply reblogging some random internet meme or song they have stuck in their head, while others crave something more. The more personal the tumblr seems to get, the bigger the backlash seems to be. Relationships played out over tumblr only to flame out serve as cautionary tales of what not to blog. There has yet to be one end happily ever after.

What drives someone to want to become the next Julia Allison? Everyone who shares themselves online does so with equal parts ego and foolishness thinking anyone cares about what they have to say. While some write with the sole intention of trying to discover some deeper meaning to their experience, others do so hoping their experience may lead to some greater experience by being discovered by a well connected personality. A hope at some chance encounter, an appreciation for ones work that could lead to become part of something bigger than themselves.

Before there was blogs, and the hyperconnectedness of both small and large personalities in the collective universe of micro-celebrity, it required a bit more effort to get the attention of those who might propel one from an audience of one to virtually limitless possibilities.

It seems that this idea of an unlimited audience, far greater than the 15 people that Momus surmised, is what those grabbing for followers are aiming for. Whether or not they’re able to reach this level of micro-fame (or micro-infamy) seems to depend on how much they’re willing to share and willing to risk, and if the price is worth the juice.

The feature deals with local museum based events. I personally have always wanted to attend the First Fridays at the MCA (strictly 21+).
