PATH TRAIN SERVICE SUSPENDED TONIGHT ON 33RD STREET LINES
PATH service between 33rd Street and the Journal Square and Hoboken stations will be suspended in both directions through this evening due to signal and power cable damage caused by a small manhole fire east of Christopher Street Station. There were no injuries.
PATH stations at 33rd Street, 23rd Street, 14th Street, 9th Street and Christopher Street stations will be closed this evening.
PATH will operate regular service on its Newark to World Trade Center and Hoboken to World Trade Center lines, and also will operate between Journal Square and Hoboken stations.
NJ Transit will cross-honor PATH tickets at Penn Station New York and Penn Station Newark. PATH passengers also can use the New York City subway system to pick up PATH service at the World Trade Center Station.
An update on when the system will resume normal operations will be provided as soon as possible.

“The future is obvious to anyone even slightly interested in looking. We just stand aside, as he, as they, watch the light shrink, then fade, then vanish.”—Will Leitch, today, regarding last night’s Sports and New Media special on Costas NOW.
What would Coldplay sound like if they grew some balls? We’re not sure, but Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’s “Violet Hill” finds them trying. Brian Eno’s production and the guitars help. Chris Martin’s outro trick of gentle voice/piano chorus reprise, not so much. [ Stereogum ]
It’s been decreed in our household that MGMT will be the band of the summer. All events involving the beach, outdoors, and/or drinking will be to the soundtrack of their music in one way, shape, or form.
Would anyone be interested in a booze + brunch fest on Saturday? I am thinking about getting together with some people at a restaurant (preferably one that has bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys, any suggestions?) on Saturday sfor a little brunch and booze in honor of the Derby. It is the first year I’m not going in a decade :( And I have to celebrate somehow.
Let me know if there is any interest. If not, well…I guess I have to resort to hanging out with my non-tumblr friends only.
Sounds great, if the weather is nice, I might finally head over to the Met to see the Koons exhibit afterwards.
